Unit Tax ID number

Does anyone know if Stakes are assigned a tax ID number? And if so, how do I find out what it is? My stake was told that if they provided a tax id number to a provider of goods for a fundraiser, that they would receive a discount on those goods. I've never seen anything about a tax ID number for the Stake since I've been the Stake clerk, but wondering if anyone has heard of this.

My stake includes parts of Nebraska and Iowa. We have a Nebraska state tax ID, but Iowa does not give one to churches. We can purchase items in Nebraska and ask the retailer to skip the sales tax. If the state your stake is in allows this, you need to contact the state treasurer's office.
