Apple TV question

Viewing the broadcast on 9 Jan, a question was raised regarding Mormon Channel being available for Apple TV.

I don't believe it was answered satisfactorily.

From what I understand, you can transmit anything that you can view on your Ipad, to the Apple TV unit.

You can also achieve the same effect on Android using Chromecast. -- Dudleygrantbutt 04:05, 10 January 2015‎

Since your comment deals with a specific broadcast, I moved it from the talk page for the LDSTech broadcasts page to a talk page for the specific broadcast.
Note that the question was asked at the 56:00 mark, if anyone wants to review the question. I'll agree that the answer was not satisfactory -- it wasn't really an answer at all. -- Aebrown (talk) 21:49, 10 January 2015 (MST)

Cool beans, thank you. It amazing to see the church investing in technology. For a little more info around the apple TV / Chromecast options, please see the following links

We are in the process of acquiring some of this kit in our ward. Android Lollipop also now provides built in Chromecast support. For just $35 for a Chromecast device, Apple needs to bring it. --Dudleygrantbutt (talk) 04:12, 11 January 2015 (MST)

Before you make too big of an investment of time into Chromecast, you might want to review this discussion on the LDSTech Forum: Chromecast not connecting to the internet, which discusses challenges with the Chromecast working with the Meetinghouse Firewall.
Also, these wiki talk pages don't get much traffic -- you'd be better off having this discussion on the Forum, since it would involve more people than just you and me. -- Aebrown (talk) 06:30, 11 January 2015 (MST)

A lot of us are using our own data plans, so not an issue there. Alternatively, just dropping back to a simple USB stick also does the job. Our plan is to have a set of inexpensive memory sticks, with mormon channel content/conferences etc preloaded, stored in the library, that can be checked out in the normal fashion. Most smart TV's/panels/monitors and simple media player devices, accommodate USB and the necessary video codecs these days. Basically the plan is to have a few options available to get the content you need for your class.

Good point, will switch over to the forum with these notes made so far. --Dudleygrantbutt (talk) 06:43, 11 January 2015 (MST)
