Scriptures on CD-ROM

From TechWiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

The Scriptures on CD-ROM contains both the Standard 1.1 and Resource 1.1 versions. It is included in the Desktop 5.5 package for installation on unit administrative computers. It is also available for download from http://mls.lds.org/ for the same purpose.

Versions

Standard

The Standard version includes the full English text of the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. It also includes the following scripture study aids: Bible Dictionary, Topical Guide, chapter headings and footnotes, Guide to the Scriptures (not available in print in English), selections from the Joseph Smith Translation, cross-references to the standard works, and maps and photographs. Users can search, print, or copy these resources.

Resource

The Resource version includes all that the Standard has plus additional research tools. Those tools include the Old Testament in Hebrew, the New Testament in Greek, lexicons, word frequency reports, bookmarks, color highlighters, the ability to make unlimited marginal notes, parallel columns for studying the scriptures in several languages, and more powerful search capabilities. Menus, commands, and help sections are in English only.

Notes and bookmarks

By default, the notes, highlights, and bookmarks are stored in "My Documents\Notes" in files with a .enb extension (e.g., "Scriptures.enb" or "Study Aids.enb" or "Footnotes.enb").

You can change the location using Book Options > Options > Note File.

If you need to install the LDS Scriptures on your new computer, then copy everything in that folder from your old computer to your new computer. If you have a lot of time and effort invested in those files, you may want to back them up.

Languages

In addition to English, the CD-ROM also includes the triple combination and study aids in Cebuano, Finnish, French, German, Ilokano, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, and Tagalog.
