Browser problem
A sister came to me for help, but I couldn't do much for her. She is is using Windows 7, and LDS.org is telling her she needs to update her browser before she can access it. I am a Mac user, so I'm not familiar with Windows, but is this true that LDS.org will no longer work with older browsers?

Re: Browser problem
Windows 7 is the operating system and supports most browsers. I keep my browsers up to date, so I do not know how old they can be and still display LDS.org. The Windows 7 operating system is still used by many administrative computers and still works well.zaneclark wrote:A sister came to me for help, but I couldn't do much for her. I would expect that if the sister were to update her browser to the latest version, that error message would go away. That said, there are still some LDS.org problems, even with the latest browser updates. But they do not have anything (I think) to do with whether the computer is running on Windows 7 or 10.

Re: Browser problem
As stated the question is what browser is she using? Win7 came with IE8, which is seriously outdated. But it can run IE11 as well as the current versions of Chrome, Firefox and others. There was Safari for Windows, but I think it's been discontinued.
I'd be more concerned that she's getting a popup from some malware wanting her to download more malware disguised as a update.

Re: Browser problem
Parts of LDS.org (especially the parts that require signing in) no longer work on some older default Android browsers (for example, the default browser that shipped with Samsung's version of Android 4.4). A browser that supports TLS 1.2.0 is required. It's possible the same is true for older desktop browsers. Make sure her favorite browser is up to date, and also make sure that whatever you click on to install an "update" isn't malware, as mentioned above.
