Online Missionary Recommendation System quesiton

#1

Post by jkamcks »

We are trying to enter my son's social security number into the identification form. We have his card and are sure that we are entering the correct numbers. We have tried entering it with and without the dashes. We continue to get an error when trying to "Finish" the form. It says invalid ID. I purposely typed un-matching numbers in the two boxes and then got a different message. So the invalid ID is definitely having a hard time with his Social Security number. This is one of the final steps that we need to complete in order to submit his application. Please help! Thank you!

I don't think your conclusion is correct when you say that the "invalid ID" message must refer to the Social Security Number. When you type unmatched numbers, that will fail the very simple check which can be tested in your browser (via Javascript) before the data is even submitted to the server for further validation. But when you make the two SSN fields match, the data can then be submitted to the server. The "invalid ID" message could then easily refer to some other piece of data on the form, or to some other problem that may not even be data that you've entered.

I'm not saying I know what the problem is, but it certainly could be something other than the SSN, so you might want to broaden your search for data problems. In particular, that same form has an Identification Information section where you enter information about a passport or driver's license; I would think it much more likely that the data problem is somewhere in that area, rather than the SSN that you have checked so carefully.

Thank you for your response, but it is definitely the SSN field. The exact message is The ID is not valid. And then the SSN field has a red border around it. And the message is just above the SSN field. Who can we talk to about this?

I don't know if the Global Service Center is set up to provide support for the missionary recommendation system, but it's worth a try: 1-855-LDS-HELP. A local source for help might be your stake clerk or stake technology specialist.

Thank you! I called that number and discovered that there was a bug in the tables behind the form. I called that number, they referred me to the missionary department, and then they had a tech department that knew exactly what the issue was. Thank you for your help!!

I noticed that there is only room for one passport number, and country issued, on the missionary recommendation paperwork. I have both an American and Ukranian passport because I have dual citizenship. Which one is more important to put in? Thanks.

You will need a passport issued from the country from which you will serve your mission.

I have typed my social security number into the Missionary Recommendation System on the identification form multiple times, the system won't accept it and insists that there is an "invalid ID". I know that I have typed it in correctly with and without the dashes. What is the problem? Who can help me with this issue? This is the very last thing I need to complete before I can submit my information. Please help

The answer is a few posts above yours in this thread. Call the number listed and ask to be referred to the missionary department for a bug with the SSN on your form. They should be able to help you.
