Who can Publish

We have been attempting to use the newsletter in our Stake, and currently there are only things from the Stake Presidency. As we try to get the organizations to use it, we find that they are unable to add a new article. As a result I discovered that the Admin rights are only for the exec. sec. by name not by calling. So I have go in and added the presidents of two organizations by name only. The system does not allow us to add admin by callings. It allows you to add organizations to the category tab, but not the admin. Is there a secret to getting things in by calling, or is the automatic default the executive secretary. At least that is what I have seen from the Stake and several of our Wards.

The entry field where you can specify a new publisher or administrator is labeled "Name or Calling" and the "Add Publishers or Administrators" section of the Managing Rights and Roles help topic directs you to "Start typing the calling or name of the member." But I can't get any calling to be recognized when I type part or all of the standard calling name (I'm a stake admin, and it accepts neither ward nor stake callingss). The only way that works is to start typing a member's name, which does produce a list of names that match.

So this appears to be a bug to me. And I tried it on multiple browsers.

BTW, the one calling that got a match was when I typed in "Bishop" but that was only because we have a family whose last name is "Bishop"; it's a pity he's not serving as a bishop, because it would be fun to have a Bishop Bishop. :)

That is all I get as well. If this is suppose to be a tool that everyone can and should use, then you would think that quality control would make sure that things work without bugs first, before pushing it out and having everyone frustrated because it doesn't. I don't have a label call "Name or Calling", all I can do is start typing the last name and select a name that way, never any callings coming up. I guess we will just have to wait months for the bugs to be removed. Call Ortho I guess.

It was working before the latest changes to CDOL and the MLS 3.5 update. It is possible that something in the CDOL update broke the way Newsletter gets the callings.

I appreciate you looking into this, but this has been broke for almost a month now, so it may be something else.

I think that's about when the CDOL changes were made in preparation for the new functions in MLS 3.5.

CDOL 3.1 was deployed at the end of August (see here). That was a fairly significant release, and since it was about 7 weeks ago, it does seem reasonable that it might have caused the problem. But it's in the hands of the developers now, so we'll see what they can discover.

This issue has been fixed. Can any of you please verify that it is now working as expected?

Yes, it does indeed seem to be fixed. When selecting an administrator or publisher, I can type all or a portion of the title of a standard calling, and options appear as they should. And when I select a calling form the list of options, it is accepted and can be saved.
