Non-member donation - use of storage unit to store items for YW fundraiser

Hello everyone,

The owners of a local storage facility (who are non-members) have offered to donate the use of one of their storage units to the Young Women so the Young Women have a place to store donations they receive for their garage sale fundraiser. The owners haven't said anything about wanting a receipt from us for the donation, but we want to be prepared to respond to them in the event they request such a receipt. The value of the unit it $185/mo. and the owners have offered to let the YW use it for 5 months. A few questions:

1) Are we in violation of church policy if we accept this kind of donation?

2) Can we provide any kind of receipt/documentation to the owners that acknowledges receipt of the donated storage unit?

Thanks in advance for your help!

To get the most reliable answer to the questions have the bishop counsel with the stake president. If further guidance is needed then contact the administration office.

For tax questions as they apply to the United States and Canda priesthood leaders can get additional information by contacting:
