Split wards from stake MLS
When splitting wards, can we perform the actual membership record realignment in the stake MLS? Or does each ward need to send the records as described in the wiki?

Record moves are done in ward MLS. The analysis is done in stake MLS, and the stake clerk will generate lists of which members are in which ward and give those to the ward clerk(s), but there is no feature for doing actual record moves in stake MLS.craiggsmith wrote:When splitting wards, can we perform the actual membership record realignment in the stake MLS? Reminds me of a feature request I submitted a while ago.craiggsmith wrote:When splitting wards, can we perform the actual membership record realignment in the stake MLS? Or does each ward need to send the records as described in the wiki?

Actually, it takes a ward clerk all of 5-10 minutes to transfer all of the records. We have the stake clerk sit down with each ward clerk right after the sacrament meeting where the ward is divided and take care of it.craiggsmith wrote:OK, thanks, rats.
The advantage of having the ward clerk involved is that he knows the members. For example, while the stake provided a list of names to move, the ward clerk occasionally said, oh, that address is not correct, and a quick evaluation was made to determine the correct ward.
Along with a correction of the address on the membership record.

A Ward split or 3 out of 2 is probably the most common and this would work. We created a new ward a couple years ago, and combined a ward and a branch, affected 8 units in the stake, so it isn't always that easy to do, but my case, admittedly, is an outlier...
Please make sure you transfer the Missionaries to the correct place also... a missionary's financial account doesn't automatically transfer with his/her/their record
