Sealing living Children of Record (under age 8) to living parents

#1

Post by rontilby »

We have the delightful case where a husband and wife are ready to receive their own endowments and be sealed to each other and have their living children (all under age 8) sealed to them.

The bishop has issued the living ordinance recommends for own endowment and sealing to spouse to the husband and wife.

Neither I (ward clerk), my bishop, nor my stake clerk, know what Temple Recommend or other forms/paperwork/recommends are needed for sealing the children to their parents.

What documents does the temple need in order perform and record the sealing of living children to their living, biological parents?

Children under age 8 do not need a temple recommend. The couple does need to phone the temple to make an appointment for the sealing. If the children are their own natural born children they do not need any documents though a Family Group Sheet may be helpful.

From the secretary to the Salt Lake Temple President:
1) Children under 8 years of age do not need any recommend or special permission to enter the temple.
2) However, if a child is 8 years old or older, they must be baptized first and will need a Limited Use Recommend signed by both the bishop and stake president.
3) All this family will need to bring is a FAMILY GROUP RECORD that should have been sent to them from the temple where they plan to be sealed or they can receive one from their priesthood leaders. They should fill it out completely prior to their coming to the temple for review during records verification on the day of their sealing.

No. Children born to parents who have been sealed are Born in the Covenant. Because of that they do not require the temple ordinance of sealing to parents because they are already sealed at birth.
