Quarterly Report - Attendance for 2nd Hour?
Up to this point, the quarterly report has requested the number of people who attended a priesthood and Relief Society/YW meeting during the last month of the quarter. Cany anyone confirm if, beginning with the 2019 Quarter 1 report, the language will remain the same (despite there now being only 2 weeks during the month when these meetings will be held)? Or has there been any indication that Sunday School attendance will count toward this reported number?

I treat the quarterly report as a measure of active members. If you have 96 in your elders quorum, how many of those 96 attended any meeting at all in your stake last month? Those who attended zero meetings in the stake for the whole month should be the focus of our ward council discussions.

I have seen no change in instructions, so unless there are, you are correct. Anyone who attended during the 2nd or 4th Sunday will count, along with any who were in stake callings or on full-time missions, etc.brettdmecham wrote:Can anyone confirm if, beginning with the 2019 Quarter 1 report, the language will remain the same
Of course, there is time for a change before the end of March. But I have not heard of anything coming.

I'm just finishing our quarterly report and came here to see if anyone else is talking about this problem. I'm seeing decreased numbers being reported given the limitation of only 2 weeks during the month technically being counted for attendance. Our EQ has taken an 18% drop in attendance over the 1Q 2018 number. You throw in a ward conference or stake conference and it can really mess with the numbers. The sunday school isn't part of the reporting to balance it out. Anecdotally, our RS says they actually have better attendance with a 2 hr block but the report doesn't show that.brettdmecham wrote:Up to this point, the quarterly report has requested the number of people who attended a priesthood and Relief Society/YW meeting during the last month of the quarter. Going even further back, when I took over the report the ward was incorrectly using a quarterly average for the attendance instead of just the last month of the quarter. I corrected that and their numbers took a drop. Now with only 2 weeks being counted, it's taken another drop.

I may be wrong, but my guidance to my ward council is to count activity, rather than attendance. Given that we are to count those in stake callings or on full time missions as "attending" then actual physical presence in ward meetings is irrelevant.

I'd be happy to do it that way if that's the documented procedure. However, on the report you can click the row and it gives you the specific description of what to do. If HQ wanted to just count activity, that would simply be sacrament meeting attendance. I've often heard "active" described as once a month attendance at sacrament meeting. If that's what they are asking for, then why ask about attendance at EQ meeting? Why ask about primary or RS? There's a reason for multiple, specific questions. I may not know what they are though.drepouille wrote:I may be wrong, but my guidance to my ward council is to count activity, rather than attendance. From the quarterly report help
Emphasis added. For quorum, class, and Primary attendance, count each person who attended at least once during the last month of the quarter. Count only those who appear on the ward rolls, not visitors. Those who are unable to attend priesthood or Sunday Relief Society meetings because of a Church assignment are to be recorded as attending (including full-time missionaries serving from the ward).

Here's an example of what the report requests for EQ:jonesrk wrote:From the quarterly report helpEmphasis added. For quorum, class, and Primary attendance, count each person who attended at least once during the last month of the quarter. "Record the number of Melchizedek Priesthood holders who attended at least one priesthood meeting during the last month of the quarter or who attended at least one Sunday Young Men or Primary meeting during the last month of the quarter because of a Church calling involving them in one of those meetings."
If someone only attends sacrament meeting and goes home, they wouldn't be included in this stat.

Not on that line, but they would be included in sacrament meeting attendance - which is a major driver of the ward budget.chriswoodut wrote:If someone only attends sacrament meeting and goes home, they wouldn't be included in this stat.
