Alternative options to Vidyo
A majority of our stake leaders and HC members join meetings remotely due to how spread out our stake is. VIdyo is extremely disruptive and unreliable especially when larger groups are on so we've moved to using Google Hangout. Is this compliant with Church Policy? It seems like PVC is strongly reccomended by I can't see that other video conferencing systems are discouraged.

Re: Alternative options to Vidyo
I'm not seeing any guidance in that area. It appears that PVC was selected for it's ability to have a face-to-face meeting - not simply a shared work area. There's also the question of the Terms of Service as well as what level of privacy the meetings will have.

Hangouts is available for anyone to use, business or otherwise. Unless you purposely make it public, it will remain private and secure. I've used it a lot, but in a side-by-side comparison I've found Skype works a little better when bandwidth is limited. Since Microsoft now owns Skype, I don't know what their Terms of Use are anymore. MS probably wants money for non-personal use.

A very good alternative to vidyo which you can use is: R-HUB HD video conferencing servers. It allows 30 way HD video conferencing.

Prices starting at $395 seems a bit steep for once or twice a year usage.kimsantini wrote:A very good alternative to vidyo which you can use is: R-HUB HD video conferencing servers. It allows 30 way HD video conferencing.
