Temple Recommend Books

#1

Post by justin.scott »

As stake clerks, we are in charge of activating temple recommends (renewals and living ordinances). We have tried to activate two living ordinance recommends (from the same ward) but every time we activate it we get this error message: "The recommend book for this recommend has been reported as deleted." I spoke with the bishop of the ward, and he said that the book he is issuing from is a brand new living ordinance recommend book.

Any help with this issue? Thanks in advance.

I would contact support. I'm not sure if new books have to be marked as received.

It used to be that wards needed to mark in MLS that they had received temple recommend books. You might check to see if that is still the case, and whether they can be marked through LCR if MLS is not handy at the moment.

Likewise I think there's a process to report a book list or stolen. There's a possibility that went astray somewhere.

Back in 2005, my stake created a Fairview Ward, and the new bishop receive some recommend books. When the first book was used up, I had the honor of being issued the first recommend from the second book. Unfortunately, that recommend could not be activated by the stake (actually me, since I was the stake executive secretary at the time). When I called the GSC, I was informed that the second recommend book had been assigned to a Fairview Ward in Utah! So we discarded that book, and started using a third book.

You will need to contact Global Support. They asked us to send them a picture of the recommend book, the ward's unit name & number, and the date that the book was received. Good luck!

I don't believe so since they are assigned to specific units. But you can probably get one express mailed. Best to call the Global Service Center and ask them about your options. You might also borrow a book from another unit in the same stake.
