Good point. All the more reason to set the filter level to at least moderate.

Are there really clerks/B/SP out there running through the building asking people to get off their phones because they can't do official church work on the network? Is that a real thing? - Quick Turn off Wireless so I can transmit MLS to Salt Lake - (the imagine cry of the clerk in the heads/minds of the IT staff at CHQ/COB)??
Each time I need to use the clerk's computer to do anything on lds.org during the three-hour block of meetings, I must unplug the WAPs from the firewall to get enough bandwidth from our little DSL modem to complete my task. I did that twice yesterday. I am fortunate that the DSL modem, the firewall, and the switch that connects all three WAPs are located right there on the desk.

There is a tool for that: https://tm.lds.org/. I will admit that pulling plugs may be easier if everything is right there at the desk.

hmmm... still a bit hard to believe, I know some buildings just have terrible, terrible Internet - But hmmm... not sure why it can't just wait until after I guess... seems very odd to me to stop wireless in the middle of church services.

Possible because the counselor and clerk who are preparing the deposit just after noon don't wish to wait until the last ward is out at 4:00 pm?

I'm just betting on the location not having a 3 ward building and being in a rural area - Dana and I were in adjacent stakes for a while and had many similar issues we dealth with around internet connectivity... But ya, I get it not wanting to wait around, but should they be in their meetings anyway? :) is something so freakin urgent that it must be handled DURING the block when you're supposed to be in quorum or SS? just sayin :)

I have a two-ward (formerly three-ward) building with 5Mbit DSL. I don't think they've resorted to disconnecting things (especially since it's all in a locked cabinet where no one can mess with the firewall - like it's supposed to be.) But with the old firewall, I did see where the traffic hit saturation and the chart even "flat-topped" for a time at the ISP rate. So, they might have been tempted.

My "problem child" building used to be a two-ward building but changing demographics made it a one-ward. Oh, and "problem child" isn't in the boonies. I have a major shopping mall across the street, it's next to a state library and the back entrance is lined with residences that have both cable and fiber. There's even a public school across the street on the other side. But what can we get? Nada. We're stuck with 4G wireless.

Bottom line: the pain is real.

It would be great if the filter level could be set by specific days and times. This would allow us to preserve the network for church based activities during the blocks on Sunday and then open it up a little bit more for other activities that occur during the other days of the week.

Is this possible?

Not currently.

But then, I'd wait and see what else is blocked. Aside from the app store, it may not be any big deal.

One of our legitimate use-cases is that our full-time missionaries use the WiFi at our buildings to download and update their church apps. If we were set the filter level any higher than managed, we would need to constantly be toggling it back and forth.
