Information published in the latest 'Meetinghouse Technology Quarterly Update'

"Windows 10—The Church workforce computers will be migrating to Windows 10 in mid-2016. Technology specialists should wait to migrate Church computers to Windows 10 until directed. This will enable the Global Service Center (GSC) to have time and experience troubleshooting Windows 10 on the Church workforce computers."

Will be interesting when the Church moves to windows 10, because Microsoft is going to be more aggressive with OS deployments, they won't be following the 3 year life cycle anymore. From what I heard there will be more progressive upgrades to the OS.

Ummm...does anyone know what happens if a new STS just upgraded 4 MLS pc's to win10 and 3 FHL ones?

Like would that STS have to go back to win7 or get into some sort of trouble? just asking .. (and I'm not saying it was me off course! :ugeek:  )

According to this post, MLS doesn't work under Windows 10 - or at least complains.

Likewise, Windows 10 isn't supported in the FHC - but I'm not sure just what happens there. If it was up to me, I'd sentence the STS to retraining the FHC staff on how to use Windows 10.

MLS can work fine under Windows 10 but it has to run under win7 format AND you can´t have the latest java update on that machine. I found that once the newest java is installed MLS won´t find any users.

Although it should also be said that the global center won´t support win10 at all and if one calls (not that I have) they just tell you to go to the locals and reimage that machine to win7 and almost hang up, which is a bit annoying seeing that a) one has a legal win10 OP and b) they have already said that after June 2016 they will be updating all clerk pc´s anyways!

The latest headquarters instructions have been noted in this post. Keep in mind the computers belong to the Church and are not ours to do with as we wish. It is a simple matter of following the principal of obedience in complying with headquarters instructions to not upgrade to Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 until instructed to do otherwise regardless of personal opinion or the accessibility to a Windows version later than Windows 7.

Well our clerk downloaded windows 10 upgrade and now we have an issue because we can't revert back to windows 7 because we had a back-up in the computer of a ward that was discontinued and that is the one the windows 10 put on the logon screen. Well that ward didn't use the normal password so we can't logon to that computer and revert back to windows 7. Global services said we will have to re-image the computer to get it back and reinstall mls. So it has turned out to be a time consuming job. Let everyone know that is using the computers not to upgrade to windows 10.

I'd say that, technically, the information came in the Quarterly Update, check the archive here. https://www.lds.org/help/support/newsle ... s?lang=eng

That last link is directly to the STS Quarterly update

I could be mistaken, but I believe you can use the same sticky-key hack on Windows 10 as with previous versions to remove or change any password, as long as you can boot to a DVD and rename a couple files. Just search for something like "windows password sticky key hack" and you will find the procedure.
