When the Church has need of help from the technology community, we will post that need in this forum.

I like it.

It appears this thread hasn't been used in a long time, but a carpooling application for activities (particularly non-local activities) would be nice, even in the United States. We live about 90 minutes from one temple and about 2 hours from another. Road conditions sometimes take us to the one that is further away.

Especially with the cost of gas prices (pretty high in the United States), it could save members quite a bit of money. I understand that there are probably other applications that are of higher priority than this one, but please consider revisiting this one if you ever have the chance! :)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
Are you thinking about an application to manage private cars or unit bus?
An Internet or local application?

Well, my comment was directed to the Church programmers. I'm not sure if they ever gave something like this any thought.

Unit buses and other vehicles belonging to a unit could be managed with a resource calendar, I believe...

I was thinking an application (maybe integrated into the calendar), that allows people to sign up as drivers or passengers in a carpool to Church activities, especially ones that involve long distances (such as the drive to the temple for some people).

Does that make sense? :)

I think so. It would be an aid to reduce membership costs.

Correct! Subsequently, if it costs less to go to the temple, I think more people would be able to go.

What I've done is a module for joomla CMS, so it's free and the sources available. It could be a starting point.

No idea if this is a viable project anymore, however if a small php mysql stand alone program for Linux/apache or windows/apache is useful I can send it your way. Basically unzip into apache and populate it.

AileneRHerrick is asking that Church take care of it.
I don't know if your component (program) fits with calendar or other Church's resources, mine surely not!
