Can a name removal be invalid???
Can a name removal be invalid if the wrong last name was used?
Example:
A woman was inactive before her name removal. She got married while being inactive. She removed her name from church records using her maiden name since she never changed her name or marital status on church records. But, since her name was legally changed when she got married is her name removal still valid?

Yes. The Church employees responsible for that process would have found the correct membership record and completed the requested process.

Thank you,
In that case can her husband write a letter giving permission for her to be rebaptized?
Her husband does not want to speak with anyone from church but is willing to give his permission via letter.

Given the facts stated, I'm left scratching my head as to why permission of the husband is relevant.
f she wants to be rebaptized, then the Bishop needs to review Handbook 1: 6.14.4

Yes, The bishop has reviewed handbook 1: 6.14.4 and also handbook 1: 16.3.10 which is why there is question over the method of consent from her spouse.

A letter from the husband giving consent would be just fine.

Would that letter need to be notarized or just signed and dated?

Re: Can a name removal be invalid???
It appears to me that Handbook 1: 16.3.10 is not requiring that it be written, so I'd think signed should be sufficient unless the bishop thinks something strange is going on.brittanyberg427 wrote:Would that letter need to be notarized or just signed and dated?

It might be best for the bishop to consult with the stake president to resolve these questions. Your latest questions fall outside the scope of the forum.

From the title page of the Handbook: "Leaders who have questions about information in the handbooks or about issues that are not addressed should direct the questions to their immediate presiding authority."scgallafent wrote:It might be best for the bishop to consult with the stake president to resolve these questions.
