find my past UK national problem

#1

Post by stephen500 »

For a couple of weeks family history centres in the UK have been unable to access find my past through the lds portal normally. When they click on the portal and then the link the trial membership page is shown. They then have to click on the portal again and the page and then the findmypast page is displayed correctly with welcome fhcentre shown. Btw, the certificates are installed an the pac showing on lan connnections. All temp folders and cookies removed. This is a UK wide fault that church engineers have been unable to correct for a couple of weeks. If anyone can give pointers to a solution that would be great, thanks.

FHC support provided a quick work around

1) click on FindMyPast.co.UK (if you get the sign on screen)
2) click the browser back button
3) click on World Vital Records
4) click the browser back button
5) click on FindMyPast.co.UK (you should receive the "Welcome back fhlibrary") message

Note: do not close the browser

Thanks for your reply.
Another work around is :
1) click on lDSfhcPortal
2) click on find my past
3) click on ldsfhcportal again
4) click on find my past..which then works.

I think the problem must have something to do with cookie retention or non retention. The certificate is clearly there as is the pac code on the Lan settings. I am susprised the engineers have not managed to sort it out yet!
