Someone mentioned some sources in Swedish research, here's another one that the Church is actually working on doing some work reconstructing pedigrees with.

Those are the Norwegian 'Farm Books' or 'Bygdeboks', and one of the things that researchers up to now have had to know was the smallest possible place their ancestor lived in.

What they are doing is attempting to reconstruct pedigrees from the data in them. It is a given even with that work group at FCHD that it's not going to be perfect, it's going to be considered a tool, but it might give someone a starting point and using other possible available records including the eventual indexed other records from that area they will be able to make more informed judgements about who is who and what is what.

I don't know much more of this project, it was reported on an FH mailing list of some sort, I forget which one.
