WPA and WPA2

Does anyone know why our access points use WPA/WPA2 mixed mode? I'm guessing it's to support legacy wifi devices. Is there a way to change it to just use WPA2?
Probably for compatibility reasons. You can search and find the password for the LDSAccess network, so its not like security is really a concern.
