Maybe. I've seen at least one adult watching video that wasn't church related. I wouldn't be surprised but what parents set up the kid's devices as a "busy book".

From what I've heard, the free ones are worth what you pay. I'm not sure as video and other high-bandwidth stuff is going to work that well across them.

The Church made an announcement today about additional filtering options for church leaders. I went ahead and set mine to "strict" and then let my Stake President know. I hope "strict" is a whitelist.

Strict is not a whitelist at this point but does block most available content categories offered through the Church's filtering solution. If there are specific sites you would like blocked or unblocked please provide feedback through TM.

Yep, an official letter to local leaders went out earlier today (STSs were copied in).

To clarify, the Notice dated today specifies that the stake president determines the filtering policy, and that the stake technology specialist can make changes under the direction of the stake president.

I've got a building really in need of this. I've already fired off a email to the bishop, ward clerk and stake president opening discussion on what it should be set it.

I wish the write-up was a little clearer on the difference between "moderate" and "strict". Both say that app updates won't work. "Strict" is more restrictive than "moderate" but offers no clue as to what additional things will be blocked. To say strict "Only allows access to Church-approved websites" could be interpreted a few different ways.

That will happen I am sure, but since most have data limits, they will soon find it doesn't pay, but the changes have made a difference even though my stake has few youth. It has made it better when trying to pull up a Church resource even through apps.
