Can you tell us where this official article is found? If it is not from church headquarters or not on a church website then I doubt what appears to be official is really what it pretends to be. There was an April fools joke letter that went around on social media about changes to the password.

The WiFi password change was an April Fools Day prank. The password has not changed.

What has changed is that stake presidents now have the capability to restrict the firewall further than before. You might check with your ward clerk or stake technology specialist to see if he has been asked to make this change to the firewall. It is possible for local leaders to restrict church firewalls so that they cannot access social media sites.

Church WiFi is intended for church use. Bandwidth is usually limited and you cannot do at church everything you are able to do at home. When leaders and clerks are not able to access the Internet to accomplish their church responsibilities, they are now able to restrict use of the Internet by others in the meetinghouse so that their church work can be accomplished.

It's now August and this is the 2nd time I've heard of it. I never received any official notice (I'm the STS) via e-mail regarding a password change and ours never changed, so a little confused on if/when this is happening.

The wifi password is not changing. Although local control of the password is not currently available, there are additional (more restrictive) filtering policies stakes can use if they are having bandwidth issues. More information on this is available on MHTech - https://www.lds.org/help/support/meetin ... r?lang=eng. If you find a sites you believe should be blocked/unblocked, submit feedback through TM and your request will be reviewed - https://www.lds.org/help/support/meetin ... k?lang=eng.

You will need to speak with your ward clerk, ward technology specialist, or your stake technology specialist to work with you. Unless you can provide specific details about what you did to try to connect and what happened when you tried to connect along with any error messages we would be shooting in the dark and may cause more confusion than help.
