Images turning on side when entering LCR expenses

#1

Post by johnwbennett »

I am using my iphone to enter on LCR, expenses to be reimbursed. When uploading onto LCR the images of receipts from my iphone photo library, these images almost always keep getting turned on their sides. I've even tried rotating the images manually before uploading, and still the images are not the correct side up. Is anyone else having this issue? What's an easy fix for this?

We have only done one and it was photographed by the submitter and send via email. Ours was sideways as well and I couldn't quickly find a way to fix it within LCR. I recommend you submit feedback from the page where you upload the receipt. Comments made in this user-to-user help forum may never make it to anyone with authority to direct a change/correction.

There's an attribute in the image metadata that indicates how it should be rotated. Apple tends to rely on this (the actual images are always the same way and it's the attribute that's modified). But not all viewers will honor this flag.

Rotation frequently fixes it, but you may have to try a different program to find one that changes the actual image and not just diddle with the flags.

When I get an image in LCR that needs to be rotated I click the Tools icon (two right arrows) in the far right of the menu bar just above the image. There is the option to rotate the image clockwise or counterclockwise in the Tools drop-down list. In my experience the image remains rotated after viewing the image and closing the image view or navigating to another browser page. The rotation applies to all pages of the image if there are multiple pages. There needs to be a rotation setting for each page of the image.

Just for fun, you might try Office Lens to photograph the document. There seems to be a version for iOS.
