Enough 2019 Come Follow Me: For Individuals and Families

Regarding the New Testament 2019 Come Follow Me: For Individuals and Families manual (Item: 14717000), my understanding is that we would be sent enough copies of the manuals for each household in our ward. We received an order of those manuals, but it is short of the active households in our ward that would like a manual.

I called the distribution center, but they indicated they didn't send out the inititial batch and were unsure how many were sent out.

For others that have received those manuals did you receive enough manuals to hand out to everyone or is it standard that they provided a percentage of what might be needed with the expectation that we would order additional manuals from our budget?

Thanks!

Did you hand out one manual for each household, or one for each adult? If you handed the manuals out in both elders quorum and Relief Society, it's likely that there are several households with more than one manual.

Thank you - we actually started by by labeling each manual with the household name and have been making sure only one goes to each family. We have about 150 households in the ward (we have a number of married student families) and received less that 100 manuals.

We have 130 families in our ward. We received 84 Come Follow Me manuals. The letter that came with the manuals said something to the effect that (I'm paraphrasing from reading it earlier today - I don't have it in front of me) "a manual should be given to each family where at least one member is active."

It is possible the church is trying to avoid pitching a bunch of manuals out there that will end up in the trash. The ward can always order extras if you don't have enough. And it is on Gospel Library - some in our ward don't want a paper manual anyway.

I will be pitching a bunch of manuals in the dumpster in December, since nearly every manual we currently use will be obsolete in January 2019. We have packets of Gospel Doctrine student manuals that have never been opened.

Before we do that, we usually pile the obsolete ones on a table in the foyer with a sign for families to take any/all they want. Usually 1/3 to 1/2 of them are picked up (there are 3 wards in our building) - after a few weeks, we take the remainder to a local recycling drop-off bin. They may be obsolete for for the current curriculum, but they can still be useful for personal study.

Funny story: A couple weeks ago, I found some old "Teachings of the Presidents of the Church" manuals in a bag on the counter in the library. One of our members could not bring themselves to throw away perfectly good books, and felt they should be returned to the library, in case someone wanted them. They didn't notice the pile of the very same manuals on the shelf in the library, which we need to dispose of.

I still have all my "Teachings of the Presidents of the Church" manuals. They are available in Gospel Library, but my paper copies are heavily marked up from when we studied them in Priesthood meeting. I cannot (yet) bring myself to part with them...

Did any of you receive the Come Follow Me Teachers Manual? None of our wards have received it.

They will not receive them unless they ordered them. The 2019 curriculum instructions said that only Come, Follow Me -- For Individuals and Families was sent automatically. Wards need to order any other manuals, including Come, Follow Me -- For Sunday School, if they wish to have them in hard copy.
