It has come to our attention that a couple who was supposed to get married just recently called off their wedding. They both had their living ordinance recommends signed by their bishops and were awaiting the stake president's interview.
One of them has their regular temple recommend that is due to expire. Can they simply use the living ordinance recommend, without the living ordinance section of the recommend, or must they get a new, regular renewal recommend from their bishop to replace their current, expiring temple recommend?
Please advise.

The new recommend is not activated until after the stake president's interview. So the old recommend is still valid until it expires. The bishop will then issue a new recommend. The living ordinance recommend for sealing should be returned to the bishop.

Re: Living Ordinance Recommends vs. Renewal Recommends
Normally, you would do as drepouille has suggested, but since the former recommend is about to expire, you should be able to do what has been suggested. A member of the stake presidency would remove the living ordinance part of the recommend during a regular renewal interview, but after that interview the stake should be able to activate the recommend as normal.justin.scott wrote:One of them has their regular temple recommend that is due to expire. The stake should let the bishop know what they have done, i.e., that the living ordinance part of the recommend was not given to the member and that the recommend was processed as a normal renewal.
