Sending Emails with attachments ?

I'm a new stake clerk. Our Stake President would like to send out an email to all members of the stake with an email attachment (nice pdf, not conducive to LCR's send message 'text-only' functionality).... is there a way to do this that anyone is aware of, short of dumping out every email in MLS, exporting a long list of emails as a csv, and trying to blast an email to 3000+/-? email addresses from my own personal email account? I love the functionality of being able to send the messages , but don't want to be trapped by inability to send simple text only.... Any guidance on this?

I'd be cautious about that. It could get you labeled as spammer and lose the account. Especially if members start complaining or marking it as spam.

Assuming it doesn't include private member information (which it probably wouldn't since it's going to such a broad audience), my recommendation would be to put the file on Google Drive, Dropbox, or something similar, and use the Send a Message tool to send a link.

It looks like attachments are now an option on LCR.

Attachments seem to be an option, but it does not seem to work. At least all my emails with attachments via LCR (to High councilor, stake presidency, etc. get lost, without attachment they work.

I just did a test email to myself and one other clerk with a jpg attachment and it came through ok. We're planning on doing our monthly newsletter electronically (as an attachment) so this working is important to our plan.

Our ward is currently sending out the weekly sacrament program as a pdf attachment via LCR and I've been receiving them for several weeks. Do the size or type of attachments make any difference in your testing?

Thanks for reporting back that it works for you. I have a solution, though I think that there is a problem hidden: If I change my email address to a gmail address (which I have but hardly ever use), I receive the emails, I don't know if this is also true for other recipients. As I own my standard emailing domain which is hosted by a major provider, ldschurch.org is whitelisted. The emails do not appear in the spam folder either. I don't find any traces of them in my non-gmail folder, though I don't have access to the server logs.

I tried it with various browsers and file types: jpg, pdf; browsers: chrome and edge(Windows only); operating systems windows 10 and mac. File sizes is a couple of KB, PDF had something like 146 KB, JPEG 506. I don't even get the typical verification email that I receive if I don't use an attachment.

If this behavior is true and some provider settings do not allow receiving the emails with attachments independent of their personal settings, then we cannot rely on the recipient even getting this email. For me gmail might be an option, but that is definitively not true for all members. In short: it seems to be a problem on the receiver side with spam protection or something that is deeply hidden in the MTA, usually not to be influenced by a user.

It might be helpful if you list the provider for the email address that is failing to receive the email. e.g. if it is hotmail.com or yahoo.com, or whatever.

The hoster is 1und1.de, one of the major European web hosters.
