Missionary Plaques
I think this would fall under a "local custom" but our ward does "Missionary Plaques". However, we have been having a hard time finding reliable (and timely) vendors for this.
Is there a list of "contracted" vendors where we might bennefit from a volume discount?
Thanks.

What location are you in, or were thinking of getting them by mail order?
So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

I do not believe there is a list of "contracted" vendors.
We have used Mullett-Hoover in Provo with good success. A missionary plaque runs $25 plus shipping. They have a website. They ship to us in the southwest US.
I have seen nice plaques from other vendors around the stake, but can't get to them right now. You might also check with other units in your stake to see who they use.
You can Google a couple of places that run from $22 to upwards of $70. We get the $25 plaques, hang them on the foyer wall while the missionary is serving, and give them the plaque when they return.
The usual commercial disclaimers apply.

Re: Missionary Plaques
Greetings,
Can anyone advise me on who/ how to pay for these? Do the families of the missionaries serving pay for them or does a member of the Bishopric pay and get reimbursed?

Re: Missionary Plaques
In every ward I've been in the ward has paid. However, it is up to the bishop whether such an expenditure is appropriate. If the bishop decides to ask families to pay for them, that's his decision. As for the actual payment process, it depends on the vendor. Some will send a bill to the ward and the ward can pay the vendor directly. Others may want pre-payment in which case it may be easier to have someone pay and then get reimbursed.Kielrw wrote:Greetings,

We get our plaques from Premier Awards in Richfield UT.Kielrw wrote:Greetings,

In our Stake the Ward pays.
The company sends an invoice along with the finished plaque. I just give the invoice to the finance clerk and he cuts a check and mails it back.

We use these: https://www.buyldsproducts.com/missionary-plaque-7x9/
As the clerk, I purchase it on a credit card and submit for reimbursement.
The ward pays for it from the budget and then we give it to the missionary's family when they return home.
We order them without the photo and ask the family to insert a photo or provide one for the clerk to insert (we also ask the missionary for their favorite scripture before ordering the plaque).
We have a world map in a display case with pins for areas missionaries have been called to from the ward and we hang the plaque there.
I have attached a form I set up to give to the family to collect the information in case anyone finds it useful.

Re: Missionary Plaques
We also use the site https://www.buyldsproducts.com/plaques/ ... y-plaques/ when ordering the missionary plaques. I usually find it much easier to submit a digital photo copy (with a fee) during the time of ordering to have them insert the photo themselves. I tried inserting one time myself and found it to be off-centered and the picture was a little too wide for the screws to put the cover back on. The plaque comes from the Branch budget.

Might I suggest using Gem Awards. You can order them online here>> https://www.gemawards.com/missionary-plaques/ They're really great to work with and ship quickly. You can usually just pay for them and turn the receipt in to the bishop. They also have a really great resource for missionary scriptures. I think it's all the scriptures they have done for their plaques. https://www.gemawards.com/missionary-plaque-scriptures
They are definitely professional.
