I am looking for help in printing a Blessing Certificate for a family that resides in a different stake.
They have adopted a infant child, They came to have the child sealed to them in a nearby temple and then had the baby blessed in the grandparents ward (my ward).
How do you generate a blessing certificate? It appears the old MLS trick doesn't work anymore, it just redirects you to the LCR Certificates page.
The child has an existing record generated in the other stake, so I can't create the record. The only option I can think of is move the record into my ward?
Any ideas?

I suppose another option is to create a new record and then tell the home ward they need to combine them. That's not a great option.bretkent wrote:The child has an existing record generated in the other stake, so I can't create the record. The only option I can think of is move the record into my ward?
I think I'd be inclined to call support and see what they suggest.

Re: Baby Blessing for out of Unit Family
I have no way of trying it but the LCR Certficates page does say you can enter an MRN. Have you tried getting the child's MRN and entering it? Perhaps it will let you print an out-of-unit certificate if you do it that way.
If that doesn't work then I think perhaps the home ward will have to take care of the certificate after you communicate that it was performed.
I would not move the record into your ward.
If you do decide to contact support as russelhltn suggests, then please report back what they say.

That would seem a bit odd for them to sign it since it took place outside of their unit.eblood66 wrote: I think perhaps the home ward will have to take care of the certificate after you communicate that it was performed.
Granted, a replacement would have the same situation, but that would be based on the membership record, not some communication from someone who says they're the neighboring ward clerk.

Re: Baby Blessing for out of Unit Family
I'm not sure it's different than if a baptism or priesthood ordination is performed, by arrangement, outside the home ward. The home ward has to record the ordinance based on a statement from an appropriate witness (probably a bishopric member in the ward where the ordinance occurred) and the home ward bishop signs the certificate. After all, he's the one with stewardship over the family and is the one who must authorize giving the blessing.russellhltn wrote:That would seem a bit odd for them to sign it since it took place outside of their unit.eblood66 wrote: I think perhaps the home ward will have to take care of the certificate after you communicate that it was performed.
This hasn't been the practice for baby blessings in the past but I think that's actually been an anomaly compared to the other ordinances and it's possible that the rules for LCR have brought it back in line. But that's just speculation, of course.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to simply record a baby blessing? I've gone to create record and it wasn't listed as an option. I've also gone through the Membership-Ordinance Pathway with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated

When actually creating a record the option to print a blessing certificate is presented after the verification page.jheaton13 wrote:For the life of me, I can't figure out how to simply record a baby blessing? If the record has already been created then use Membership List and find the child's record, then click [Ordinances]. Then find the blue printer icon and text link at the bottom right... Print Child Blessing Certificate. The blessing can't be printed after the child's baptism is recorded.
Note that the blessing information.... date and who preformed the blessing is not saved anywhere so you will need that information if asked to make a duplicate certificate.
