Tithing - Incorrect Category after auditing

#1

Post by cchang »

We just completed our recent bi-annual audit and noticed a tithing payment was incorrectly placed into the wrong category. The tithing slipped indicated it was supposed to go into the Fast Offering category but one of the Counselors put it into the Tithing category incorrectly. This was caught during the audit and is there a way to go back and update the category once an audit has completed or the year end has been processed? We will review with the donator to see if they want to update this correctly but if they do, can we make the changes to correct this after the year end audit?

Yes, just edit the donation in either MLS or LCR. You should be able to regenerate a tax statement for the donor if they want but I'm not sure there would be any difference.

Yes, the clerk can absolutely change the donation category using LCR -> Finance -> Donations -> Previous Year

Thanks, I wasn't sure you could change the donation category from a previous year once it is "closed".

A different side question, if we already transmitted the tithing batch information for that day but a few minutes later, a member brings to us their tithing envelope, can we create a new tithing batch deposit on the same day? Just wondering if we can submit multiple tithing deposits in the same day for that one person afterwards.

Yes, you can submit another batch on the same day. You'd also have to use a separate deposit bag, deposit slip and so forth. Don't mix the deposits.

Thanks, just wasn't sure if the system would allow it but will keep of note for future references.
