Deceased member pay tithing by family member
Looking for help. The mother and older single daughter are members in the ward. The mother recently died. The daughter wants to pay tithing on funds the mother received before she died. However, the deceased mother's records are moved out of the ward. How does she make a tithing payment on behalf of her mother? Suggestions?

From the church's standpoint, it doesn't matter. There's no tithing declaration or anything like that for deceased people. However, in order to keep the tax records nice and neat with a tax receipt, it is desirable to make the connection.kwgarlick wrote:The daughter wants to pay tithing on funds the mother received before she died. If I had to take a guess, the ward might be able to record it was a "out of unit member" using the MRN. However, it might be best to contact support and see what they have to say.

It sounds like this payment will be made from the mother's estate. The daughter might want to contact LDS Philanthropies to work through the process.
