Invalid Certificates

#1

Post by jasonmorganallred »

There are a few of the newer church websites that are showing invalid certificates. Most of them are redirects to various versions of mormon.org.

List:
churchofjesuschrist.org
worshipwithus.org
become.org

Do you think we could get the certificates fixed? The first two domains seem especially useful at inviting non-members to learn more about the church without focusing on the "Mormon" name, but I'm hesitant to share them while they have invalid certificates.

Thanks!

I'd suggest submitting this using the feedback link on the main lds.org page.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

worshipwithus.org is a "vanity host". A vanity host only exists to redirect to another site. Most of the vanity hosts are http only. The redirect goes to an official site that uses https. (https://www.mormon.org) If you'd like to post or share links for worshipwithus.org, the links should be http://worshipwithus.org

become.org and churchofjesuschrist.org aren't being served up by Church servers, even though they're displaying Mormon.org content. These domains were only recently transferred to the Church, along with many others. Their final purposes have yet to be determined.

Until there's an official transition away from the Mormon.org domain name, non-members should still be referred to the Mormon.org website.

I'm trying to submit an article to the ensign, The ensign states that ensign.lds.org should be used for submissions. Upon entering that as URL I got the following:

This server could not prove that it is www.ensign.lds.org; its security certificate is from *.ldschurch.org. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker
intercepting your connection.

Proceed to www.ensign.lds.org (unsafe)

When I attempt to go to www.ensign.lds.org I get:

https://www.ensign.lds.org/ensig?lang=eng&_r=1 with "https" double line crossed through and:

Your connection is not private

as before.

If I am logged into my LDS account and enter www.ensign.lds.org I get a redirect to https://www.lds.org/ensign?lang=eng&_r=1.

I am wondering if I am just staying up too late and it is an early a.m. phenomena or the church filters and blocks techies cuz they can't generate anything worthy to publish? Maybe my sin is using Chrome instead of Firefox?

Do I need to submit by pony express? - I guess they call it snail mail these days.

I discovered the answer to my question about invalid certificate etc when trying to follow the directions in the Ensign to submit material for publication.

The instruction in the print copy of the Ensign (on page 4, midway down the right column) should indicate to go to Magazines and click on Submit Your Material.

A little more detailed, go to Scriptures and Study/Helpful Resources/Magazines (https://www.lds.org/magazine?lang=eng). Then under ADDITIONAL RESOURCES: click on Submit Your Material and voilà, moments away from being published to an audience of millions! This link is apparently not yet coded under the "New Experience" page selection so if you are looking for help with the new (or old) experience of submitting material for publication, do not select "New Experience" on the Magazine page!

Another important thing to remember is that www.ensign.lds.org and ensign.lds.org are not the same thing.
