I woudl like to suggest a help for our librarian's who try to record and archive broadcasts. Currently they are having to record onto VHS. This doesn't help many of us who do not have VHS players any more, our building only has one player, and the quality is poor.

I would like to suggest consideration of a secure download ability for those properly called to be able to download and burn to DVD the broadcasts so they can be stored in DVD format. This would make their job easier and enable us to free up space in our libraries.

I've had this same thought and agree completely. When you consider how many AV specialists and technology specialists throughout the church are recording the various broadcasts to tape or disk and making copies for meetinghouse libraries, there is a huge duplication of effort going on.

I know that we can download conference sessions or individual talks and then use DVD authoring software to create disk images for burning. But if the authoring process was done once by HQ and the ISO image file or files were made available for download as suggested by rrhintze, the combined time savings across the church would be tremendous.

On a related note, as the Meetinghouse Internet project starts rolling out, local decisions will need to be made regarding which rooms to wire in each building. As beta participants in this program, our stake was not given any guidelines or restrictions with regard to which locations in our buildings should or should not be wired. In addition to clerk offices, and a few other locations, we made the decision to put a connection in each meetinghouse library. We saw many potential uses for this connection, one of which was the ability for library staff to download and burn videos on demand.
