Ward location not synched between webiste

#1

Post by idefaye »

Across the years, it has been really complicated to have all tools in sync with ward locations.
Again now, a ward has a new building for several month. The Bishop, the stake presidency alone cannot get everything sorted out. We understand that the Church facilities management is supposed to do its part as well. But we have found extremely difficult to have them update this information.

If we look in cdol.lds.org, the address is correct.
In calendar.lds.org, we have two locations for the same building: the one NOT maintained by Chuch facilities management, and the one we created which has the right address.
On ward maps, we see the ward at the old location, not the new one. This is an issue not only for stake leaders, but for non-member who try to visit the new location for open doors or other reasons and are looking at the church website for the address.

It does not make sense to have to update this everywhere, without a clear picture who does what where. It's a real headache to get information properly update, and at this level it really does not feel like a house of order.
Is there a way to give full control to locale authorities and stake leaders to update and maintain this across all chuch plateforms ?

Thank you,

Longueuil Stake executif secretary

Your meetinghouse address is recorded in only two places. Work through your stake Physical Facilities Representative (a high councilor) to get Facilities Management to make the change in their database. That will solve the rest of your problems. If the stake PFR is not able to do it, the stake president should ask the FM Group manager to make the change.

This would be the process, but even the manager is not reactive... it takes several emails and calls to get it done.
Even when they finally do it, they do it with this option : This location can not be scheduled by Wards and Stakes
Currently, if I look at the meeting house in the calendar, I have units up to 3 times in there simply because FM group is not able to maintain a clean system. It's confusing and hard to administer.

Why does this administration needs to be duplicated ? We should have just one place.
The bishop or stake presidency have the right to change meeting hours, so it is visible to persons searching for meeting house, but they do not have the rights to change the address: only half of the information is accurate.

I don't see why there could not be a share right by both stake/bishop and FM group.

Sounds like the stake president needs to have a conversation with his area authority.

That would be controlled by the agent stake for that location.
