BBCode for images

Are the URLs for inline images restricted on the tech.lds.org forum? I tried to post some inline screenshots on an issue on the calendar forum and I couldn't preview or post images that were saved on several photo sharing sites. Imgur.com, photobucket.com and even evernote.con (using skitch to share). For example, this tagged URL doesn't preview (had to inset in code brackets to display)

Code: Select all

It just hangs when attempting to preview.

Is this the case? What is the workaround? I ended up uploading my screenshots at attachments and placing them inline, but they don't display until someone clicks on them. I am curious if this was done by design.

Strange. I'm not finding a form setting for that. Usually if it's a firewall issue, you'll get a "block" screen. So I'm not sure what's happening. I'll have to ask.

I just tried to preview that URL. It didn't hang but it did take a long time (~1 minute) before it displayed anything and when it did it said "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image". I'm guessing that it tries to retrieve the image on the server to get the size (and possibly other metadata) and that something is preventing the server from accessing that site. If the server is behind a firewall it may have a filter that prevents access to some sites.

Try cutting and pasting the URL in a new tab in your browser. It comes up right away. I used upload attachment for the same image so it would be located on the tech.lds.org servers. I got the same "It was not possible to determine the dimnesions of the image" event when the attachment upload.

Code: Select all

If I embed to a random lds.org image, it works fine.
