Visually it looks too much like "doctor" to me. Also who knows if it will stick with just DAISY long-term?

One of the reasons I like Littera is it suggests "literature", something a little more artistic or uplifting then just "talk".

But keep the ideas coming.

I like Littera and lector. OpenKeller gave me a good laugh, and Margarita would be interesting, though I don't think it would go over to well, especially if it was distributed on the Church's site. I also agree that keeping away from the Hellen Keller thing would be a good idea. Many blind persons sort of distance them selves from her; not because of her, but because of all of the wildly inaccurate movies and stories which have been produced about her.

Lector isn't bad, but one of the first things that come to mind is Hannibal Lecter. :o

How about LPS (Litterae pro sulum, meaning Literature for everyone)?

There's also Libri pro sulum (books for everyone)...

Either one, we could call LiPS. That's appropriate since it's a book reader! :D

I went ahead and completed the form at SF to create the project under the Littera name. That name was already taken, but it was a project that looked like it had had no work ever done on it, and it has been inactive for more than a year, so I made a request to take over the name. Unless the original admins complain, there should be no problem.

I'll let everyone know when I hear back from them.

Thanks.

Could have used the lips from the Rocky Horror Picture show as the graphic. :D

Well, the request could always be rejected. LiPS is already taken as well, but I'll try for that one next, as it also has no releases yet.

The owner of Littera didn't want to give up his name. So, I am trying for LiPS.

We will see.

Also, as an update, I have nearly finished the class to parse the .SMIL file. Next I will work on the .NCX and .OPF parser, and finally, a class which will bring them all together. This last will be what the user interface communicates with to find out what text to display, what audio to play, what the elements of the table of contents are, ETC.
