Stake Conference to local school building

#1

Post by farwest »

Our stake president wants to be able to broadcast from our stake center to a local school building for overflow account we have a general authority visiting and expect higher numbers than usual. What would be the best way to broadcast from the stake center to the school building? We don't have a lot of tech people to work on this and I know just enough to get into trouble! Your input would be appreciated.

The first question is what kind of connectivity do you have? Does the school have a Internet connection you can use? How fast?

Russ, this is the exact question that I have because if you don't have Internet connection, then it will be difficult, but not impossible.

Have you thought about doing it to your ward buildings, which should have Internet connections? We used personal laptop connected to the projector and to the crabs to receive the broadcast using PVC. Work fine.

Is the church's upload speed that high as well? Since you will be transmitting from the church most likely the church's upload speed will be the limiting factor. You can see your upload speed at speedtest.lds.org. Remember that you should try to only use 80% of the upload capacity to maintain a solid transmission.

I will check the upload speed this week. Question though I was told this morning that the church as a team that will come and do your stake conference and transmit to other buildings. Is there any truth to that I have not seen that here or anywhere else.
Thanks

I have not heard of a team that would come out and do this. If that is the case then I have been going about it the wrong way. I have been working to get things done at my buildings to make me and the members of my stake be able to do it.

So if someone has any information on this, that would be terrific, otherwise, I will keep moving forward with what we are planning to do.

News to me, but it may be true. I think it's worth following up via the official channels.
I'd be interesting in knowing who pays for it. That might explain why so many here are doing it themselves.

I should find out tonight about a team that will do a stake broadcast as I found the info came from the stake president who receive it from an area authority. It was all new to me as I have never seen anything before in print.
