Admin Problems

#1

Post by atticusewig »

Earlier in the week, I tried to login to my
ward website, and got an error saying
that my Stake isn't participating in the
program. Since I know that my stake
does, I figured that the LUWS developers
were able to get some time to work on
something, and temporarily gave everyone
that message.

Well, I was able to login in a little later and
figured everything was fine, until I went into
the admin page. For some reason, I am now
only a "Resource Admin" as opposed to one
for the ward website.

The same thing is happening to my Stake Admin.

Anyone else having this problem ?

If this part of a planned maintenance, can
anyone shed light on when full rights will be restored ?

Thanks,

I'm not aware of any planned maintenance. I'd contact the help desk to see what is up.

I'm fine. But I've had a couple of experiences where I suddenly loose my privileges. No known cause.

restoring lost LUWS admin access

The same thing is happening to my Stake Admin.
This has happened to me twice in the past after local unit site outages. The first time, I called someone else whom I had previously granted admin access to. I had him check to see if his access had changed and it had not. He was able to sign in and grant me admin access again. The second time this occurred, I was not able to quickly contact another local admin so I called headquarters support. I was told that they could not resolve the problem quickly there and suggested that the quickest way to resolve the problem is the way that I had taken care of it the first time. That is to find someone who still has admin access and grant it to you again.

So is the person that most recently had access granted to them still have admin access or the oldest or just completely random?

I have not seen a proven pattern, but I'm suspecting attempts to login when the site is down may do it.

If that is the case, could the LUWS developers put something
like - "Under Construction", do not attempt to login on the login page ?
It would also be funny to see those work-sign graphics
that used be on all sorts of internet sites in earlier years.

By the way, one of the Stake admins did not have their
account affected, so he was able to restore access to
both me and the head Stake Admin.

If it was known there is a problem, it would probably get fixed. That would be one way to fix it if it was difficult to do a proper one.

At this point I'm just floating a theory to see if it matches what other people see.

Though from what I can tell from these two events (not very statiscally sound but a basis for a theory) is that there will be always at least one stake admin that doesn't have their account changed.

It might also be that all BUT one stake accounts are changed.

I don't remember that happening, but we'll have to watch that too. In the one case maybe both tried to log in when the system was down.
