2012 will be the 175th anniversary of the restored gospel being preached in the UK. It will also be the 30th anniversary of our stake being organised. As part of a project to celebrate these anniversaries our stake leaders would like to have a way to collect member submitted material about the history of the church in our local area. Once submitted the material would then be compiled and made available for other members of the stake to read/view.
Would it be possible to create a website using LDS Account authentication, via which members can upload photos/videos, write down reminiscences etc. The uploaded content then be available for the assigned specialists to review and compile ready for publication via the same website that would be accessible either to all or via LDS Account.
We have looked at what kind of tools are already available to achieve this, but the question has been asked whether it would be possible to tie this in to LDS Account. We would be interested in hearing how easy or difficult this would be. Alternatively can anyone recommend an online tool/site that has the features that would best match with what we are trying to achieve?

I think the more difficult part is the permissions issue. I'd suggest your stake president talk with your area authorities about getting permission to set up a website. (See Handbook 2, 21.1.22) Once that approval is obtained, then you can move forward with the technical aspects.

The church has not given out the tools to do this, and I haven't seen any indication they will.cottrells wrote:Would it be possible to create a website using LDS Account authentication...

Thanks for the initial feedback. The stake presidency will be seeking approval from the Area Presidency before we move ahead.
At this stage we are seeking to "study this out in our mind", investigating the possibilities and wanted to use this forum, which is described as: "Have the BIG idea that the Church or community needs to develop. Discuss that idea here.". We are hopeful that by seeking a wider community view on the technical and/or other aspects we may not have considered, we can come up with a solution that would be given favourable consideration.
