The remote is left with the monitor(s) but we do not expect them to use it. The volume is always turned off as the overhead sound system is driving the room. In the 'low' show mode, whatever the PC is putting out is on the screen and on the monitor. A black slide or no input will cause the monitor in HDMI mode to be black or solid blue. Sometimes a theme slide is put up between presentations. This is helpful to avoid having someone put a book in front of the lens (literally not cool) to blank the picture or avoiding someone coming up to un-mute the projector.
In the 'high' show mode, using the monitor TV HD channel , there is always a video signal present , either from our cameras or from the satellite. There is always a pre and post SLC video trailer on satellite broadcasts so that there should never be a time when a white noise static screen is seen. Unless a signal is present on the HD channel, there will be only a black screen unlike the older NTSC signal handling.
In a basic regional broadcast, you could let the people on the stand see the prelude video while keeping the room projector blanked.
