Hi, I am a Bishop... a member of my ward plans to baptize his son (will turn eight later this year) from a previous marriage and asked if his ex-wife needs to grant approval for the baptism. I asked if he expects her to not approve, and he said he is not sure. Ideally there would be support from both parents.
In the case where one parent may not approve, is it OK to proceed with the baptism? Does it depend on perhaps who has legal custody? What if it's shared custody?
I did not see anything in this regard in HB2 Ch.20.
Appreciate any guidance on this. thank you.
