Stake High Concilor Accesses on LDS Tools

#1

Post by eliott.mourier »

Good evening,

Yesterday during our Stake High Council meeting, we noticed the huge differences in terms of access to reports, information and features in LDS.org between the High Councilors and the Stake Presidency.
For instance High councilors only have access to the missionary progression report and no other ward or stake reports (not even the quarterly report for the key indicators). High councilors also only have a very limited access to single member information compared to the stake presidency.
Considering High councilors are expected to be the representatives of the Stake Presidency at least in the ward they monthly visit (which would justify to at least have the postal address, priesthood ordinations displayed I guess) and that they work with stake organizations, I find it surprising they have such limited rights and possibilities on Lds Tools.

Any specific reason for this ?

Thanks,

E.M.

While this addresses LCR, I'm sure the same applies to LDS Tools. From the Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) FAQs
Why do stake and auxiliary leaders and high councilors have only limited access to LCR?
Stake auxiliary leaders and high councilors are primarily responsible to instruct and support ward auxiliary and Melchizedek Priesthood leaders. They orient newly called ward auxiliary and Melchizedek Priesthood leaders and provide encouragement, support, and instruction. They are not responsible for individual ward members. It is the ward clerk’s responsibility to train ward auxiliary and Melchizedek Priesthood leaders on record-keeping tools and responsibilities. If stake auxiliary leaders and high councilors need a list of members for planning purposes, they should request this information through the ward or stake clerk.

Questionable arguments, especially with reports I'd say, but clear answer. Thanks you.

Given the current legal environment about privacy, it's a pretty good argument in terms of access to personal information about individuals and family. Statistical information about the unit (such as the quarterly report) would seem a possibility as long as it didn't have names attached to the numbers.

Access to information is decided by the priesthood leaders (and lawyers) at church headquarters, not by the developers. You could use the feedback function on lds.org to submit your suggestion, or ask the stake president to bring up the matter with his presiding authority. This forum is primarily user-to-user, so ideas raised here doesn't help.
