Cannot find Member when moving records in

#1

Post by taylor.millett »

I have an inactive Sister in our ward that would like to have a membership record number in order to do family history work.
She does not remember her baptism date, but says she was baptized.
Her deceased parents are sealed and she is sealed to her parents. I can see that information on familySearch.org
I cant find her name when I try to move her records in.
What are the next steps? Is it appropriate to create a record for her anyway?

Typically, you should only need a name and birthdate to move the record in. If that fails, then you should contact support. It would not be appropriate to create a record.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

If she was married try the maiden name and/or other names from previous marriages.
Make sure she gave real name and not a 'nickname' eg Penelope vs Penny.

You could not create a record without knowing the baptism/confirmation date and probably other information.

With the information about her parents support should be able to easily find her records.
