Just a crazy idea in case you haven't tried this: From the EQ page, you create the companionship and assign just the husband. Then, the RS president uses the RS page to add the wife to the companionship. Does that work?

From other posts, you have to assign the husband first - then you can add the wife. I don't remember - she may not appear in the drop down list. You might have to type her name.

If you have added the husband and the wife is not showing up in the drop down when entering as the second companion you may need to have the ward clerk check to make sure that the marriage is recorded properly between the spouses

It's possible that both records show they're married, but the records may not be cross-linked with each other. The usual symptom is that that if you look at the household in the directory, the wife is showing up as "Other Household Members" instead of being listed below the Head of Household.

Once you've added the husband (for an EQ companionship) then the wife does show up in the drop down without typing anything (although with all the other brethren in the list it can be hard to find without filtering the list). Likewise after entering the wife first in a RS companionship the husband is in the list.
