Our Elder's Q just called a new ministering secretary, but the secretary is not able to access any of the ministering parts of leader and clerk resources. Does anyone know if this is a mistake? Or if this position has no access to these areas of leader and clerk resources?

Thanks

On the Home page of LCR, there is a big notice stating that amongst others, secretaries of the relevant quorums will have access on the 1st of August!

Also it can take up to 24 hours, before access is granted, if the calling has only just been made.

You will need to get together with your RS Presidency to discuss your role in this new Church initiative. This new Church resource is a challenge for everyone involved, as the concept and tools are so new. Everyone is on a steep learning curve.

The link below, which is one of many available, will start you on the road to understanding your role.

I know others will be along to add further insight and point out additional options.

Understand that there are TWO processes in play here: First, you are called to help your presidency in their ministering efforts, and second, because of this calling, you are also granted online access to the parts of LCR (Leader Clerk Resources on LDS.org under your login) that allow you to use the online ministering applications.

1) Your calling as a ministering secretary.
Ministering: 9. Can elders quorum and Relief Society presidents call additional counselors to help with ministering? No. A president has two counselors. If leaders find that additional help is needed, they can counsel with their bishop about calling one or more ministering secretaries. These ministering secretaries may be assigned, for example, to schedule ministering interviews and to help prepare a quarterly report of interviews.
If you have been called, then your presidency / bishopric have discussed the need for "additional help" with the duties of ministering administration in the presidency, and have extended the call to you for that position.
Note that these callings that used to assist with home / visiting teaching coordination have now been discontinued, (some of them are no longer necessary.)
10. What is the role of ministering coordinators and supervisors?
The callings of ministering coordinator and ministering supervisor have been discontinued. Those who have been called to these positions should be released.
So, you asist your presidency in effective ministering. The ministering website will help you and your ward leaders do this effectively as you ponder and pray for guidance. Which brings us to part two. Once your presidency has agreed to what parts of ministering they themselves will accomplish and which parts you, and the presidency's secretary will help them accomplish, we move to part number two.

2) Granting you online access to the parts of the LCR (Leader and clerk resources) because of your calling as a ministering secretary. That's where LDS Tech can help you. Bring us your questions about how to use the LCR applications to assist in all aspects of ministering!

People are reporting that they have lost access to the ministering area of LCR and they are listed a ministering secretary. Anyone else having access issues or getting reports of access issues.. the changes seem to have come with the updates in early August.

My calling is "ministering secretary," and have had no access issues since the first update, including today, as I have been using the ministering functions of LCR on and off all day. Sometimes sitting with them and watching them log in and try to access the areas might give you an idea of the problems... user errors or actual access errors.

Could the callings have been recorded as custom callings? If so, changing them to non-custom might help.

You should counsel with your organization president. There is also general information in the Ministering section of lds.org that you may find useful: https://www.lds.org/ministering?lang=eng
