Could a feature be added that would make an opt-out photo be displayed when someone chooses to hide or opt-out of uploading a photo? When hinting down members that do not have a photo in the directory it is difficult to know if it's missing because they haven't done it yet, or if they just don't want it displayed on the website.
An image that says "not available" if hidden from view, or of they decide they done want one listed in the directory at all, that would be perfect. Then the only records with a missing photo would be for those who have yet to upload one.

The forum is primarily user to user support and discussions. The best way to get your input to the right people is through the feedback link found on the LDS.org main page.

Re: Directory photo opt-out photo?
There's nothing preventing someone from creating such a photo and uploading that. That will take care of opting-out of the photo completely.adoga wrote:Could a feature be added that would make an opt-out photo be displayed when someone chooses to hide or opt-out of uploading a photo?
As far as I know, there is no setting to indicate the desire to opt-out of a photo - they simply don't upload one. There is a setting for who can see the photo. That is under user control.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Here's a blank image you can use!

I use an image similar to that, but it says "No Photo" so that it's easy to tell if someone has opted out or not.
My hope was that this would be a built-in feature for everyone, that's all

Re: Directory photo opt-out photo?
I agree is would be nice for members to choose "opt out" instead of uploading a "No Photo" or blank image. The problem with uploading a "No Photo" image is that it will take up space on the directory, rather than just leaving out the photo. If there's an option that can be set, then everyone knows.
I like it, so I just submitted feedback requesting the feature.

Here is the opt-out photo I use. It makes it a whole lot easier to sort through the opt-out members using it. It shows up in all the thumbnail views perfectly.

I created it myself so there are no licensing issues. Use it as you please.
