Re: Wireless Internet Providers

I wonder if they have they done a filter check since the recent switch to OpenDNS? The filter check fails every audit. The auditor tries to go to gambling dot com, is blocked, and marks the exception and the followup that blocking is working. The FM Group opens and closes a work order, and we do it...

Re: Wireless Internet Providers

Since the church is now using OpenDNS as a filtering solution, you should check to see if the church's implementation of OpenDNS would be affected. We have a branch in the hinterland that uses a Hughes dish. We have had plenty of problems, but the GSC has always been able to work them out so that t...

Re: Wireless Internet Providers

We are getting ready to have Hughes Net install a dish for satellite internet at a stake center where DSL, T1, and Cable is not available. Should have speeds up to 25M D and possibly 5 up, which is a great improvement over the 2M down and 2M up we have at present with the old satellite ISP. I'll le...

Re: Highlight Scriptures

Thanks for the tip on old vs new experience. I would like to try highlighting Handbook 2 even under the new experience as you suggest. BUT, I can't seem to access the option to choose an experience ('new experience toggle') when viewing the handbooks under LCR. But I can see the choice when I navig...

Re: Highlight Scriptures

Unfortunately I can't highlight anywhere that I can tell. One example is Handbook 1 under 'Duties of the Bishop' 2.1. When I highlight text I see no popup. When I went to check if I could highlight there, in the Leaders section of the library on lds.org , I don't see Handbook 1, although my calling...

Re: Length of General Womens Session?

Hi, In the letter released this week it states that the General Womens Session is 2 hours (see page 4): https://www.lds.org/bc/content/ldsorg/church/events/2018/broadcast%20schedules/15735_000_letter.pdf?lang=eng But on the church website it lists 90 minutes: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/...

Re: Disconnecting unused phone lines

I thought I remembered the letter mentioning that emergency communications was a reason to keep a landline, I thought so to. I went to letters.lds.org to find that quote, but couldn't. From the letter we received: Some situations that may lead to keeping a landline telephone include the following: ...

Re: Meetinghouse DNS Setting Changes

However, in the event that someone chooses to set a static IP address for a Windows computer locally on the device, this setting is independent of the DNS server(s) setting. Regarding your screen shot. While it looks like the settings are independent, on my machine, once I set a static IP the DNS s...

Re: Meetinghouse DNS Setting Changes

Unless I'm missing something, once you configure Windows for a static IP, you're forced to use a static DNS IP as well. Perhaps printers, copiers, and other devices are more flexible. The older firewalls didn't let us set static IPs in the DNS. The new ones do. I think it's "best practice"...

Re: Meetinghouse DNS Setting Changes

As I understand the original post, the only change is for DNS server addresses. I don't see any mention of static IP addresses of devices changing.

In our case, when I've set static IP's on devices, I've left DNS settings automatic.
