Re: How to use Postal Service to find a forwarding address?

I will keep that last part in mind. But it's not like there aren't still going to be some things mailed out based on membership record addresses in any event. And Melissa plus an annual mailing with a refined address list would still be much cheaper than quarterly mailings.

Re: How to use Postal Service to find a forwarding address?

The first clerk training after the Brethren introduced the nine steps for finding lost members, I did a presentation on them with a little more detail. One thing I told the clerks is that each one's best friend should be the Relief Society secretary. Those of you outside Pennsylvania and its coordin...

Re: Easy move outs and custom callings

For the easy move-outs, set it up as a boundary change. That way everything stays intact but the unit changes.

I know at the stake level there is a way to go through the custom positions and find standard names for them. I'm just not sure where it is in MLS.

Re: Membership Record ping pong

I'm not sure I agree with that line of reasoning, but it's certainly not worth arguing about.

Re: Membership Record ping pong

Our stake overhauled boundaries in 2010, and many of the records we just got back were sent to AU before that. As such, several wards got records with previous addresses that are not now in their boundaries. I've asked those wards to not simply send those records to the unit where the address is now...

Re: Records sent to my ward with no address?

Of course. Meanwhile there are a few units in my stake that were already skittish about sending records out, particularly for those who they know are in the area but don't have a specific address. I wonder how they're going to react to this. Meanwhile, I have to figure out what to tell the clerks an...

Re: Records sent to my ward with no address?

Not necessarily in the ward boundaries, though. We overhauled our boundaries a few years ago, and records sent from before then are coming back to the wards they were sent from. I'm going to tell the clerks that got those records to investigate them rather than pass them to the "right" ward.

Re: Leaders balking at sending records to Address Unknown

Some of the leaders involved said they will talk with the stake president. I've already sent the stake president lajackson's (#2) response from this thread. At this point I will give it a couple more months (some of these have been issues for years) and then bring it up again. I've gotten these part...

Re: Leaders balking at sending records to Address Unknown

I'll keep that in mind. It was a major step today for some of them to admit it's an issue.

Re: Leaders balking at sending records to Address Unknown

The leaders in the area where the members are currently living will never know they are there if the record is never sent there. Leaders cannot help the members if they don't know who they are. I'm well aware of that. I just need to find a nice way to tell the local leaders that this applies even i...
