That is the Internal Revenue Service requirement. I would just hand them out on the first Sunday after you receive them.

And to add to that; mail any you are unable to hand deliver before the 31st.

Re: Unused ward budget

Unlike your personal budget, there is no reason to bank excess budget funds. I have spent over a decade serving as either a ward or stake financial clerk. In bishopric training, after our bishops were not spending their allotted funds, I felt inspired to share the parable of the talents and testify ...

Re: Paying for High Adventure for young man that moved

BSA guidelines specifically state no individual fundraising accounts. Even if he participated in a group fundraiser, he has no individual claim on a portion of the group funds. If he donated personal funds to pay a portion of the camp, then that should be refunded, but technically, he didn't earn an...

Re: Eagle Scout project funding

The issue here is The Church does not certify the tax status of this type of donation (as with any donation entered into an "Other" account). That's not really an issue if the donor is willing to write the check to The Church on behalf of the troop. The donor can still maintain documentati...

Youth and senior mission on IOS?

His wife's reports the senior mission, but his only shows the youth mission. Should the IOS show both, or will it only show the first mission a member compl...

Re: How to Authorize Assistant Clerk to Make LDS Store Purchases

The OP doesn't say what type of clerk his assistant is, but following GAAP (i.e. standard US accounting principles), the clerk paying the bills usually cannot place orders. This separation of duties prevents a single individual from placing an order and being the same person who reviews and reconcil...

Fast Offerings used to pay deposit

Preparing for an upcoming audit, I preselected expenses to test. One expense noted the payment was a utility deposit. I believe I've seen something in the past that says FO payments should not be made for deposits. Besides the guidelines in HB1 5.2.3 and 5.2.4, can anyone point me to a policy statem...

Re: Making Fast Offering Donations to another unit

Tax deductible donations like Fast Offerings cannot be directed to a specific person. It's also inappropriate to use church accounts to anonymize a charitable gift. There is no actual rule about FO income exceeding expenditures, however that ratio can be a useful tool for local leaders on ward and s...
