Re: Ward Bulletin Online Application

Responding to original post as topic seems to have drifted a bit. I've been wanting something like this for quite awhile but haven't been sure how to go about it. Now I think the Google Web Toolkit would be a good way to approach it. The idea is to have a few fields a person could fill out, select f...

If you save a GEDCOM file to a CD, any computer can read it (Mac, Windows, Linux, etc.) A USB flash drive is even better.

Building Security, Marlok keying system

I work in facilities management (but not as a manager). With Marlok out of business some have suggested the idea of the Church buying the patents to the Marlok technology and developing it further. There are other electronic locking systems, none of which have been officially approved by the Church ...

Elder's Quorum rolls

When you print out the role for Elder's Quorum you get the Elders. Makes sense. If you have Prospective Elders assigned to the quorum they are on another page. Normally this is probably not a problem. However, our ward has all prospective elders assigned to the High Priest group and so no page is pr...

Making HT changes

Just wondering. Would it be possible to add a little functionality to the process of making HT assignment changes? Specifically, it would be wonderful if MLS would warn you about a home teacher being assigned to a family whose head of household is already assigned to home teach his family. In other ...

Going back to the usability idea (today's blog) keeping them together makes sense until there becomes too much clutter to make navigation a chore. As an example: I use Cakewalk Sonar for recording music. An author put up a website to promote his books on using Sonar and also including a forum where ...

So is that for internal testing only? Are there 'beta' testers that act as end users?

I while ago, I read "Understanding Usability" (I think that is what it's called.) By the time I was done I was aching to be a usability tester or consultant or something because of the number of websites I've seen that are horribly unusable--and I'm a geek. There is tremendous frustration on the end...

Church Employment Opportunities site

I am wondering what the difference is between the listings at LDS.org and the Church's intranet. The page on LDS.org instructs users who are current employees to use the intranet. The only problem with this is most Church employees do not have ready access to the intranet, having jobs that do not re...
