Re: Robbery - USB backup key taken. Next steps?

A related concern of mine is all the documents stored in the file system, outside of MLS. If you store confidential documents on the hard drive, they are readable by anyone who can login to the Windows account that created them, or by anyone with Administrator privileges, or by anyone who can move t...

Re: Signing of ordinance certificates

I would give them the unsigned certificate -- OR -- If they are not requesting a certificate, I would instead give them the child's IOS for verification. In my opinion, many members are too catholic/protestant if they believe such blessings are saving ordinances.

Re: Late Audit

As a ward clerk, I run through the online membership audit a few times each year to help me identify record issues. I also perform a financial audit on my own records a few weeks before the auditor shows up to perform the actual financial audit. I like to protect my reputation.

Re: Can not change expired password - Windows.

When all else fails, you may have to resort to the well-known Windows Sticky Keys Hack. It is rather complex, but I've done it several times when friends have forgotten their Windows passwords. On our ward admin computer, we have several Windows accounts, so one account can be used to reset the pass...

Re: Temple scheduler app

LDS Tools does a pretty good job doing nearly all those features. My temple recently discontinued making reservations for ordinance sessions. I don't know if that was a local decision, or a Temple Department decision.

Re: Sophos update failure

My ward's admin computer has shown that same message for years, as long as I can remember. I tried to call the GSC on a Wednesday night last year. They talked me through a full uninstall and reinstall, and the problem remained. Finally, the GSC guy told me to ignore it, and just use an out-of-date S...

Re: Ministering sisters - YW assignments

Maybe this text in the big blue box needs to be in a larger font? Beginning August 1, 2018, leaders will have the ability to (1) account for interviews they hold with ministering brothers and sisters and (2) assign Laurels and Mia Maids as companions to Relief Society sisters. Ministering secretarie...

Re: Printing check batch reports

You get one chance to print that report. If you don't, then you can't reproduce it. This is not an audit exception, assuming you have the bishop's signature on some other document, such as the financial statement or the reimbursement request.

Re: how to move out a person NOT a head of household

If she appears in the directory, and she is a member, then she will appear in LCR on the Member List. If she is still living in your ward, you can change her to a Head of Household. If she does not live in your ward, then you can move her record only to the new ward. While you are at it, you could r...

If her name does not appear when you type her name, just open the Member List and click on her name there.
