Re: Transfer from Ward Missionary to Tithing

I had a bishop in our stake express concern about re-categorizing the donations to allow them to go to tithing or another fund and asked if I, as the stake finance clerk, would call unit support. I did, and their answer was that this had previously been allowed, but the current policy is that the on...

I had a bishop in our stake express concern about re-categorizing and asked if I, as the stake finance clerk, would call unit support. I did, and their answer was that it previously had been allowed, but the current policy is that the only option for excess funds are to return them to the Ward Missi...

Re: Xfer Budget Subcat Funds

The subcategories in the budget are just a local convention to keep track of how funds are spent, and to help organizations plan. They can't be used to protect funds. It may vary in different stakes, but in our stake each unit retains the funds they have at the end of the year. The stake then either...

Re: Locked file cabinet

We have two locked cabinets, one for finances and one for memberships. The ward clerk has keys to both. The assistant clerks have keys to the cabinets they need access to. The executive secretary doesn't have any keys. The bishop then maintains a copy in the desk drawer in his office where they keep...

Re: LCR access for Stake Relief Society Presidents

If the stake leaders are to train and instruct, and the online tools are being provided for the use of the ward leaders, how are the stake leaders supposed to train and instruct on how to use them if they have no access. I find it incredibly frustrating as a stake finance clerk to try and answer the...

Re: Financial Audits

It is at https://audit.ldschurch.org, but the best way to get to it is to go to lds.org, sign in, and then if you are in an auditor role you will see it when you click on "My Account and Ward" and look under the TOOLS AND SUPPORT heading.

Re: Tithing Settlement Statement vs. Tithing Declaration Rep

If you review the "Identifying and Recording Tithing Status" section of the online finance training, it states under the Exempt section that the bishop cannot declare that status for a member.

Re: Use of Fundraiser Funds

If you read carefully through how section 13.2.8 of Handbook 2 reads, it appears to me you get the following: 1. Most, all if possible, activities should be funded by the ward budget. If the activity doesn't fall into the categories below, this is the only funding option. 2. For certain, specified a...

Re: unwanted payee

Usually that happens when some of the payees are marked as members, while others are marked as non-members. Edit the payees to mark them all as the same category, and try again.
